Privacy policy

This policy explains how Script Runner, its documentation website, and its support channel handle information. Script Runner is designed as a local-first desktop application.

1. Desktop application data

Script Runner stores configured script profiles in a local JSON configuration file within your operating system’s application-data directory. A profile may include script paths, working directories, argument names, default argument values, flags, and a selected log-file path.

When you run a script, Script Runner starts the configured local process and displays standard output, standard error, process status, exit code, and new lines appended to the selected log file. This information is processed locally for the purpose of showing it to you. Script Runner does not intentionally transmit profile data, command values, script contents, log contents, or run output to BuiltbyKris.

2. Files and permissions

Script Runner accesses files and folders only as needed for actions you initiate: selecting scripts, selecting argument files or folders, starting a process, reading a selected log file, and saving local configuration. Scripts run with the permissions of your operating-system user and may independently read, write, transmit, or delete information according to their own code. Review and trust a script before running it.

3. Website information

The static documentation website does not intentionally set application cookies, create user profiles, or include advertising trackers. The hosting platform may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, browser type, request time, requested URL, referring page, and diagnostic or security logs. That processing is governed by the hosting provider’s terms and privacy policy.

Externally hosted fonts may cause your browser to contact the font provider and disclose ordinary request metadata such as IP address and user agent. A future build may bundle fonts locally to avoid that request.

4. Downloads

When you download an installer, the hosting or repository provider may process standard request and account information. The installer itself does not create a built by Kris account. Your operating system may perform reputation or malware checks according to its own settings.

5. Support communications

If you email support@builtbykris.com, the information you provide—including your email address, message, attachments, and diagnostic details—is used to answer your request, troubleshoot issues, maintain security, and improve the product. Do not send passwords, private keys, confidential scripts, personal data, or sensitive log content unless necessary and appropriately protected.

6. Legal bases and retention

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, support communications are processed to respond to your request and pursue the legitimate interest of supporting and improving Script Runner. Hosting logs may be processed for delivering, securing, and diagnosing the website. Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and security.

7. Sharing and sale

Built by Kris does not sell personal information collected through Script Runner. Information may be processed by service providers that supply website hosting, repository hosting, email, security, and technical infrastructure; disclosed when required by law; or transferred as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

8. International processing

Hosting and communication providers may process information in countries other than your own. Applicable providers are responsible for the transfer mechanisms and safeguards described in their policies.

9. Your choices and rights

You control local profile data by editing or deleting profiles and by uninstalling the application. Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability for personal information held through support interactions. Contact the address below to make a request. Identity verification may be required.

10. Children

Script Runner is a technical productivity tool and is not directed to children. Built by Kris does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the application.

11. Security

Reasonable measures are used to protect information, but no device, process, email channel, or hosting system is completely secure. Keep your operating system updated, restrict access to configuration and log files, and run only trusted scripts.

12. Policy changes

This policy may be updated as Script Runner or its hosting changes. The effective date at the top will be revised when a new version is published. Material changes will be highlighted where reasonably practical.
